What will you be doing on January 14, 2012? It probably wont be as cool as what I'm doing....

So Long

I've never heard another song that I absolutely love the first half of the year and completely hate the second half of the year.

My friendship story for the day

So I have this friend

We’ve known each other for 11 years

I haven’t seen her in 5.

Each year we wish each other a happy birthday

Each year we make plans to go to lunch so we can catch up

And each time our plans fall through.

Last night I was able to see her for a little while at Freedom Fest.

I don’t have many regrets in life but one of them is that I haven’t stayed close with certain people in my life as we have gotten older.

Now I'm making plans to go to lunch with this friend

This time it's different because I know we're actually going to go.

Not because I regret drifting apart

but because being friends with someone for almost half of your life means something.

Plus if someone's still your friend when you look like a boy they must be a pretty good friend!

A few weeks late but better than never!

I am so lucky to have these women in my life. They have taught me so much and have molded me into the person I am today. Here is why I love each of them....

Kenzie aka "Corndog" is my little sister. She is always loving even though I am a huge brat. She makes me want to succeed in life so I can be a good example to her.

Grandma Hansen has always been such an amazing example to me. She has showed me the blessings of living a righteous life and has always encouraged me to be a better person.

Great Grandma Smith has seen more in her life than anyone I know. She has the most humbling stories that I think everyone needs to hear from time to time. I hope I can be as strong has she is when I am 90 and if I can be half the cook she is I'll be satisfied.

Mom. My mom has sacrificed so much to provide me with the things I've needed in life. She is the most selfless person I have ever known and I wish I could be more like her in that aspect. Growing up I always thought she embarrassed me when my friends came over but the truth is she's the coolest mom ever. I have no idea where I would be without her.

If There Was No You

I'm obsessed with a lot of songs by Brandi Carlile but lately I'm obsessed with this one....

"If you were my boat in the deep blue sea
I'd probably sink you down
I know I should have thanked you for carrying me
But for you I would happily drown"

Paws up for Gaga!

I know that half of the people who read this will disagree but I don’t care.

Lately it has come to my attention how many people really do not like Lady Gaga and I don’t understand why. So if you’re one of those people that think she’s a subpar version of a Madonna wannabe or something, this post is for you.

What makes her awesome?

1. She writes all of her music. I have no doubt in my mind that if she never sang another song and just wrote songs for other artists she would still be making millions.

2. She can actually sing. I recently attended her concert and dang that girl has some lungs! Seriously.

3. She is one of the best pianists I have ever heard and trust me I’ve heard a lot of them. Not to mention that she plays in stilettos while her piano is on fire!

4. She’s a Civil Rights advocate. What!? A celebrity that actually gives a crap?!

5. Her message. She teaches her fans to love themselves more than they love her. When you leave her concert you feel a sense of empowerment that you’ve never felt before and it feels so good.

There are so many more reasons that I could come up with but these are definitely my top 5. The only reason I have the right to publish this post is because I would love her all the same if she were still like this….

my life through the eyes of a...fish?

I recently got the film from my fisheye camera developed and am pretty happy with the results. I'm still learning how to use this camera and the more I do the more I love it. On one hand these pictures are grainy and really amateur but I love them all the same!

Big Wave

Well here I am. I'm blogging. Not sure how or why it happened but here I am. I'm not even going to try to figure out how this came about because stranger things have been happening to me lately. Take Friday morning for example: I wake up for work and nearly trip on a pair of shoes laying on the floor next to my bed. How did they get there you ask? The only thing I remember is getting out of bed and putting my shoes on so I could do something that, at the time, thought was important. Did I actually go somewhere? I have no idea. I like to think my slumbering heart lives its own life that my waking one has no idea about. That everything I feel I can't do in my everyday life happens in my sleep to keep me sane! With that said, I hope you enjoy this blog about the odds and ends that are indeed my life.
